As many of my friends and fans will readily tell you; I am an Australian, originally from the southern island state of Tasmania. Yep the very same place that Tasmanian Devils come from. I’ve been living here in Hawaii now for more than 15 years and it’s an awesome place to live. I do miss the wide open spaces of Australia though. Being able to throw a bunch of gear into your car and head off to places, hours, even days away. (it takes 5 days to drive from the east coast to the west coast folks).
It’s also about this time that the surf tour resumes it’s annual global grind in Australia. It’s also the time of the year when I normally would be making plans to head over there myself. Usually heading for secret locations down south, in Tasmania and beyond.
It’s always an adventure when you get going on a surf trip down there in Tassy. Most of the state is relatively undeveloped, especially the coastlines, so it’s always a bit of an adventure, jumping fences, being chased by bulls or angry farmers or hiking several miles beyond where the road ends. It’s a wild place. There’s always adventure involved. No matter where I go in the world, it’s always fun to go back to Australia and immerse myself in everything that is unique about the place. Take a look at these pictures for example. It’s all stuff that you’ll only ever really see there in Australia. :)
