And now for something, just a little different

As many of you already know, I’ve always been pretty obsessed with photographing waves, right from the very first image, I ever photographed. The amazing thing about waves is their forever changing form. Some amazing moments can be photographed that for the most part are lost to regular vision. It’s particularly these kind of images that I enjoy to capture with my camera, the most. Not necessarily just good surfing waves. Just amazing looking moments In this case, the frozen moment strongly resembles the warped visions of Painting great; Salvador Dali. A true moment in photographic art, if ever there was one. Enjoy!.

Hi, I love this photo of the wave froth, unbelievable. My question is, did you use a zoom lens for this and crop or did you get this close? If so how do you protect you gear as i would love to photograph these types of photos as living on the Gold Coast, there would ve so many opportunities for me, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards
    Geoff

No zoom lens at all actually. Quite the opposite. I have a very wide fisheye lens on my camera, inside a waterproof housing with the lens focused just a foot away, as the wave comes up over the edge of the beach.
