Davey photos at Frothers.com.au

Folks, we’ve had a variety of surf conditions here on the north shore over the past week. My friends over at frothers.com.au just posted a bunch of my images from this past week. Check it out here …

Hawaii loses one of it’s best big wave surfers

Sion surfed what some were calling the best days of their lives yesterday. He’d been out all day. It was late and he was looking to “catch that last wave in”.

Kelly’s surfboards are now riding him.

Kelly gives his board a rest

Folks, the greatest surfer of all time: Kelly Slater, right now is just days away from claiming his 10th world surfing title. The next contest on the world surf tour is in Puerto Rico and the odds are pretty stacked in Kelly’s favor to walk away from the event with his 10th title. With the […]

Flynn Novak Bro’file

Flynn Novak bro'file

Folks, I’ve known Flynn for pretty much the whole 15 years that I’ve lived on the north shore and he seriously is the most talented surfer with the least sponsors, I’ve ever seen. The poor guy has had n extraordinarily bad run with less than quality sponsors and he’s really looking for a company home […]

Another magazine cover arrives

NZ Adventure Magazine Issue No 151

Folks, I just got hold of a copy of this issue of NZ Adventure magazine, from New Zealand. I guess it’s not exactly recent, but I never saw this one till now. I think my wife had picked up the post quite some time ago and this one had been living in her car for […]

Epic short lived Pipe Session.

Late afternoon Pipe feb 26th 2010

Well folks, it sure has been a weird old week here on the north shore. It started out with the tsunami threat which most folks took quite seriously indeed. Ever since that day, it’s been howling trade winds at varying degrees of knots between 20 and 50. Pretty much victory at sea conditions, for the […]

Pipe shines with an all star crew

Japanese Pipe legend; Takayuki Wakita charging deep at Pipe.

As many Pipe specialists will tell you; It’s been a great season unless riding the Pipe is your gig. If that’s the case, this has been probably the most frustrating of seasons for the Pipe surfer. We’ve had pumping swellpretty much since late August and the only real

Davey’s Wavey Gravy. Get your’s today

Sean Davey's Wavey Gravy.

Waves have always been a major target in my viewfinder. My very first photo was of a Wave, way back in 1977. I’ve been building my collection of wave images for somewhere like 25 years now. These images here represent just a handful of the entire collection, but they are some of my favorite wave […]

Finals day at the Volcom Pipe pro

Jamie OBrien stoked on his cool new trophy.

They wrapped up the Volcom pipeline Pro surfing contest yesterday at perfectly glassy 4-6 foot Pipeline. It was the earliest that anyone can ever remember seeing a contest at Pipeline finish. There were just the 2 semi finals and final. The final itself was kind of hard to pick for most of the way because […]

Jamie OBrien wins the 2010 Volcom Pipe Pro

Jamie OBrien and one proud dad Mick, in their backyard.

Jamie OBrien just took out the 2010 Volcom Pipe pro surfing event right here at Pipeline, on the north shore. This is just a quick report right now. I’ll file a more detailed one later. The results were: 1st Place: Jamie OBrien 2nd Place Anthony Walsh 3rd place: Mark Mathews 4th place: Danny Fuller.

Wild and wooly day at The Pipe for Volcom Pipe Pro

Jamie sweeping the front deck. * Note the boards in the window...

The day started off real gloomy and pretty much victory at sea conditions, but it did have that look like it might clear up to perfection, like it did on thursday (the 28th) on day 2 of the event. I got there pretty early because Jamie’s bud; Ruben needed a lift up to Pipe. Frankly, […]

Awesome waves ensure, the Volcom Pipe Pro go’s off!

My wife Lane has been waiting just about all season for the ugly sandbar to move away and let Pipe do it’s thing properly. Finally, it did this morning, all be it under still ragged and large swell which at times was rolling entire heats of contestents. Those contestents found themselves in a real life […]

New folio in Parafina Magazine

Hi all, I just found out about a folio that I had appear in the last issue of Parafina magazine in Brazil just ran a portfolio of my surf photography. Now, as we have watched traditional publishing fade away, it is slowly being replaced with on line magazines which have a lot of features that […]
