fins n' palms

I love finding pictures in all shapes, colors, tones and contrasts. This one seems to have captured a little bit of everything. The old rusting pick up truck with the surfboards hanging out the back, backdropped by a brilliant red twilight sky at Haleiwa beach park, on the north shore. Just perfect.

Beautiful conditions finally return to the north shore

Pancho Sullivan flaring at Pupukea Sandbar, this morning.

It’s been like 2 weeks of bad weather here on the north shore, so it was soooooo good to see the sunny conditions return to the north shore and with no winds. I went for a bit of a swim at Pupukea sandbar this morning with Pancho Sullivan, Carissa Moore and Myles Padaca. I guess, [...]

On my mind

Surf Heaven

Well folks, usually I’m on my way to Australia right about this time of the year and usually, I end up at this very special little island in Bass Strait. I’ve been going there for many years, Seems that if I make it there this year, it’ll be a little later than usual, due to [...]

Epic Sunset Beach a few days ago

Classic Sunset - Feb 26th 2010

I was surprised to stumble upon pretty good quality surf at Sunset a few days ago. It’s taken me till now to get a clip together. Enjoy! Aloha Sean Epic Sunset Beach

Early Gold

Early Gold on the north shore

Another of my portraits, this one more of an environmental portrait in the truest sense really. My friend James Romero, out for an early surf with the rising sun, last year at Monster Mush, in the middle of summer. I just like the cruisy relaxed vibe that this picture gives off. Sean

“Waimea Power” nets another double

Gig poster for Kehau Sullivan's Aloha Jam on the 5th of March.

As many of you know, it’s been an amazing season here for really big surf. One of my favourite images from the recent big swell episodes was one such image that I captured late in the day before the Eddie ran. This picture of several surfers just scraping over a huge set wave at

Pipe shines with an all star crew

Japanese Pipe legend; Takayuki Wakita charging deep at Pipe.

As many Pipe specialists will tell you; It’s been a great season unless riding the Pipe is your gig. If that’s the case, this has been probably the most frustrating of seasons for the Pipe surfer. We’ve had pumping swellpretty much since late August and the only real

Davey’s Wavey Gravy. Get your’s today

Sean Davey's Wavey Gravy.

Waves have always been a major target in my viewfinder. My very first photo was of a Wave, way back in 1977. I’ve been building my collection of wave images for somewhere like 25 years now. These images here represent just a handful of the entire collection, but they are some of my favorite wave [...]

Awesome waves ensure, the Volcom Pipe Pro go’s off!

VolcomPipe_012810_0223

My wife Lane has been waiting just about all season for the ugly sandbar to move away and let Pipe do it’s thing properly. Finally, it did this morning, all be it under still ragged and large swell which at times was rolling entire heats of contestents. Those contestents found themselves in a real life [...]

Almost empty lineups lead to dream surfs for lucky few

That Quik' dude again getting shacked on a left as well.

They again called off the Backdoor Shootout event this morning and when I passed my wife coming back early from that direction, I figured, it couldn’t be good. Strangely enough, I guess the tide turned at the moment that I arrived because there were crew getting pretty deeply shacked at Pipe Barrel going down as [...]

Amazing Visual of the day

Under water fisheye view of surfers at Pipeline, on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

Have you ever wondered when you look and see all those surfers sitting there on the surface of the water; “what’s it look like under the water?” Well, this is a view of the reef at Pipeline with the surfers all sitting just feet above the reef. Based on it’s history, this is the most [...]

Did you surf Waimea on the 5th and the 7th of December?

Waimea surf gallery from 5th and 7th of December, 2009

I’ve had numerous surfers ask me about getting pictures from the Waimea sessions on the 5th and the 7th of december, right before the Eddie, so I went through all the pictures (and there’s a lot) and I placed a large gallery of images on my print site for you to look at. Normally when [...]

Let’s help out Kehau Sullivan

Massive Monday at the bay 2009

As many of you know, I’ve been lucky enough to live here on the north shore for the past 12 or so years and during all this time, I’ve been really good mates with Pancho Sullivan and now his wife Hanauni and young family. Pancho and I have been on all kinds of trips to [...]

Mick Fanning wins the world surfing championship at the Pipe masters

Mick Fanning fast and accurate at the Backdoor today.

It was an amazing day of surfing at the Pipe Masters. Mick Fanning won his round three heat against young Hawaiian; Torrey Meister, keeping the dream alive, then the ball fell into Joel Parkinson‘s court for his matchup against Hawaiian surfer Gavin Gillette. Joel pretty much had the heat till a couple of minutes to [...]

Pipe Masters runs another half day before holding off for the big stuff

Wardo__Pipemasters

It’s been a couple of days of the Pipe Masters already, but everyone’s is in such a daze after the recent Giant swell episode that the appeal of the Pipe Masters is not as it usually would be. Given that it’s only 3-5 foot on average, doesn’t help with one’s enthusiasm that much. We are [...]

Awesome day at the Eddie Aikau big wave surfing invitational

A 30 foot close out set right as the sun was setting. 12-07-09

Hi all, wow, what a few days, it has been. I slept over at the Rip Curl Off The Wall house the night before the contest because they said the roads would be closed down and I wanted to be right there, where it was all going down. The rumble of the ocean was just [...]

Eddie went at Waimea Bay

Waimea CloseOut Panorama 12-08-09

Hi all, I’m super slammed here with a backlog of photo “processing” to do from the past few epic days at Waimea Bay, so I won’t dwell here long, but to say that it’s been an amazing couple of days here. I shot crazy huge Waimea yesterday morning for a few hours. It was massive [...]

The Bay went HUGE today, but the Eddie waits another day

Unknown surfer at HUGE Waimea Bay today, 12.07.09

We have a massive, massive swell filling in round the north shore right now. I have to get right back up there before they shut it all down, so you won’t be hearing from me again till tomorrow night. Till then, check this beast from Waimea Bay, this morning….
