Add a bit of Pipe Sparkle to your living space.

Pipe Sparkel - canvas art

I photographed this cool image of Pipeline during a surf contest because as many surf photographers who have photographed the place will tell you, it’s just about the only time that you can get photographs of perfect waves without anyone in the picture. This was one of those such moment. Just a big perfect sparkling […]

A green glow in the water this morning

Often, when the weather conditions are just correct, I like to get up in the dark and go to some of the more out of the way places around here. The reason that I get up in the dark is that I like to be on location, even in the water all ready to shoot […]

In appreciation of waves

I thought I’d post an image of a beautiful wave today, just to take a moment to appreciate that it is the actual waves that many of us base our lives around. Surfers, photographers, fishermen, etc. Today, I present you a moment of beautyfrom non other than Ha’atafu Beach in Tonga. It’s a beautiful little […]

The Surf Bus

The north shore is no stranger to tour bus’s. We see ’em all the time, but it’s not every day that you see one like this. This is the surf bus. Some friends of ours are running tours to see the surf beaches. They used a bunch of my photos to make their bus look […]

Storm Clouds move in over the Hawaii’an islands.

Storm clouds brewing over Off The wall, this morning......

Lane and I were down at Pipeline quite early this morning expecting the worst, but the surf was actually pretty good, much like yesterday, largely missing Pipeline altogether but just being groomed into perfect waves up at Rockpile, just like yesterday. One thing different though were the ominous, very

Today’s catch – of waves

I got the water housing wet this morning at Pupukea. I was really kind of syching just to get in the water somewhere because it was so sunny and clean with such a blue sky. My intention was to swim out to the back of Ehukai and shoot some images under water as the surfer […]

Some pictures from this morning, on the north shore

Folks, it’s been very, very quiet for surfing the north shore lately. Really quiet, not to mention that the past couple of weeks have produced some rainy and windy weather as well. So when I woke this morning and could see that everything was settled down, with hardly any wind about, that was enough to […]

Wave of the day – Aqua Gold Curl

Aqua Gold Curl

Todays wave of the day was photographed very early morning, in fact, right on the moment that the sun appeared over the hill. There was just the right amount of water flowing back down from the beach to give this wave the extra bit of curviature that it needed to produce this moment for my […]

Lone wave at Ehukai for today’s sunset image.

Twilight Peak

Folks, we’ve had a bit of rain move in and although it stayed quite sunny on this part of the island for most of the day, It started to rain just before sunset, so I didn’t manage to get a shot today. Not to worry though, I only have a million other Hawaii’an sunsets already […]

Wave of the day – “liquid energy”

Print name - "Liquid energy"

Folks today’s wave of the day is a rare view of an ocean wave from both above the water line and below the waterline at the same time. I particularly love the bubbles floating to the surface. Gives it a nice art look. Enjoy!

The calm before the storm

calm before the storm

The weather sure has been a factor over the past several days, here on King Island. I arrived during a heatwave, with the following 2 days dragging the whole place back into winter temps. The whole process repeating itself over at least once already. It just changes so quickly here. This is an image of […]

kickin it – island style

tea tree abounds on this island.

Been quite literally chilling out here the last couple of days after a cold front came through and changed the heat of summer in a matter of hours to the cold of winter. Such are the dramatic weather changes in this part of of the world. Here are some scenes from the island..

Wipeout of a lifetime

We had our first real day of solid swell for the season, 2 days ago. It was easily the best opening day for Pipeline that I’ve seen. relentless swell through out the night moved a great deal of the sand before daylight, although there was still some pretty heavy backwash and wobble happening out in […]

Deep Impact in the pacific

It’s amazing what you can do with the modern day photoshop tools. I learnt the old fashioned way myself, in the dark room, “dodging” and “burning”, wasting sheet after sheet of photographic paper. These days though, it’s a trip what you can do. Imagine it and then go do it. That simple, really. Take this […]

Liquid Steel

This is an interesting little number that I shot over near my house, last year. In the world of waves, this little bloke is pretty insignificant at just an inch high, but I still dig on it’s funky look. Enjoy! Sean

Groove Tube

I just love to photograph waves, eh. Got a few more this morning, but here’s a cool one from yesterday which I’ve named “Groove Tube” Yew! Sean for prints, send an email to: roger@waveridersgallery.net or myself direct at fineart@seandavey.com And if you want to see a selection of other images, go to my main page […]

Green Shimmer is born

Hi everyone. It’s pretty much straight into summer here in Hawaii now. temps are nipping at 90 most days. water’s clean and green (or blue). When it gets all summery here, I like to start the day off real early and go see what i can photograph in the early light. Sometimes, it’s the landscapes, […]

Beautiful King Island

Hi all, I just got back to Hawaii. Man I was tired when I arrived yesterday morning. I was seated in probably the worst seat of the entire plane. Yep, right in the middle, directly under the bright projection screen AND with a big guy on either side of me, so it was a constant […]
