Well folks, usually I’m on my way to Australia right about this time of the year and usually, I end up at this very special little island in Bass Strait. I’ve been going there for many years, Seems that if I make it there this year, it’ll be a little later than usual, due to commitments here in the islands.

Surf Heaven

One day last december, I noticed north shore identity; Ruben Tjada catching some stellar barrels at Backdoor, in the early morning light. He was also riding an old school yellow single fin, which just looked so retro. Just for a moment there, we were back at Kodak Reef in the 70’s. I love old stuff. yew!

This image of Joel Tudor is from probably around 1997. It made the cover of one magazine in Australia and has endured all these years to still be one of the better “speed blurs” that I’ve shot.
