Back to the Sea

There’s an old saying that one should never have one’s back to the sea because you never know when a wave might just strike you unexpectedly. In this particular case though, the title refers to the fact that this old pier is slowly wearing away and eventually will end up back in the sea. I noticed these old pier remnants somewhere in Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne, and initially, I didn’t see much potential for a great image. It wasn’t till much later when I was working on the images from this shoot that I started to see the potential for this image. The dramatic sky coupled with the slow shutter speed on the approaching waves gives this a real dream-like quality.

With this one being a panoramic picture, I can print this as large as 40×120 inches on metallic or premium papers and up to as large as 34×114 inches on exhibition canvas. Do feel free to email me directly at art@seandavey.com for more detailed information.
